What is a Webinar?

A webinar is a virtual workshop conducted over the internet.   At ABFT, our mission has always been to bring the personal hands-on touch to the Accredited NFPT-CPT Credential.  Our standing "live workshops" have helped thousands at understanding the NFPT principles and learning the basic principles of physical assessments, identification of risk factors, proper spotting, and many other intricate details involving the continued success of a Fitness Trainer.  While our goal has always been to conduct live interactive workshops, we do feel the need to accommodate those that due to demanding work schedules,  living in areas where minimum workshop attendance requirements are difficult to meet, or living in rural areas of the world.

Our webinars have been designed into eight, two hour segments totaling 16 hours of "real time" lecture with one of our workshop instructors.  Classes are scheduled to meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for four consecutive weeks with the availability to view and listen to the entire webinar for 96 hours after the event in case you cannot make the scheduled time.

Module 2: The Aerobic Prescription, Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Skeletal Immune, and, Endocrine Systems.

This module's focus is on the Cardiac Muscle, the "Heart".  The Respiratory, Vascular, Skeletal, Immune, and Endocrine systems will also be reviewed.  Students will understand and be able to explain pulmonary and systemic circulation and identify the relationship of the respiratory and vascular system to the functions of the heart.  One of the most important components of training a client is the understanding of the cardiorespiratory system and prescribing the proper intensity, frequency, and duration for the client to reach their goals.  Students can expect to learn how to assess cardio training zones, learn multiple formulas to reach science based estimations, become exposed to the tools available for monitoring client heart rate, and prescribe a Cardiorespiratory training program.

Module 3: Fitness Testing

Fitness testing is more times than not a missing component in the actual field.  Without a fitness assessment it becomes quite difficult to interpret and re-evaluate a client's progress.  Students can expect to learn the basic recommended fitness evaluations including the 3-Minute step test, Endurance test, Flexibility test, and Strength test.   With a protocol for fitness testing a fitness professional can assist the client in identifying their own strengths and weaknesses and establish a reference point for improvement comparisons.

Module 4: Anatomy and Physiology

This module emphasizes Skeletal Muscle Anatomy, Biomechanics, Anatomical Planes, and their applications on the gym floor with specific exercises.  Students can expect to learn the major muscle groups as required for basic skill sets for the NFPT-CPT credential.  Knowing not just the name of an exercise but more specifically what specific muscular tissues are being stressed is a key component in program design.  All 17 exercises are demonstrated with animated visuals in order to identity prime and secondary movers and how to then proceed to combine exercises with one another.

Module 5: The Muscle Cell: Dissecting the Internal Components

This is perhaps the most complex and detailed module of all and considered my most who have sat through our live workshops as a critical component in understanding the "muscle cell" and all its intricate components which make up a large percentage of the NFPT examination.   NFPT's principles work on the foundation of specific rep range training coupled with heart rate monitoring.  In order to fully appreciate these principles and be able to explain them to a client in layman terms you must fully understand what the human muscle is composed of and how all the internal components react and adapt to the stress imposed by resistance training.

Module 6:  Nutrition and Metabolism of Nutrients

Understanding how the body processes and stores the food we eat is a key component in a successful understanding of the specific nutritionally based questions you will encounter on the NFPT-CPT examination.  In order to assist clients in choosing the best foods, combinations, and quantities to meet their goals one must first understand the basics.  This section of the webinar series takes you through a step by step visual of easy to understand graphics on and explanations that will clarify anyone's misunderstandings on the metabolism and storing of nutrients.  A must for a successful fitness professional.

Module 7: Energy Production, BMR, Client Troubleshooting

Students will learn how the body utilizes calories ingested in the process of creating energy through a comprehensive guided tour of each of the energy production pathways.  Knowing how the body produces energy at rest and at different moments during exercise is a key component in assuring the adequate intensity training levels for a specific goal.  Complimenting the energy segment the NFPT Dietary Advice Chart is closely examined.  Assisting a client in the estimation of their caloric need has never been easier,  all participants will have the blueprint for success at determining and recommending the appropriate caloric intake for a client based on their goal and energy needs.

Module 8: Special Populations, Injury Prevention and Management, Exam Review, Test Taking Skills Development

This module focuses on the basic key components of training special populations such as those who suffer from Diabetes, Heart Disease, Hypertension, Arthritis, those that are considered elderly, youth, and pregnant women.   Also discussed are injury prevention skills, contraindication awareness, and injury management.  To finish off the webinar series, we have prepared a battery of practice questions to test your comprehension and further prepare you for the reasoning needed to understand the type of questions asked on the NFPT-CPT.  All questions are prepared in flash card format on the Power-Point and answers are taken by all attendees.  To assure that the answers given are correct, the instructor will guide the attending students through the reasoning process while applying order of elimination techniques and other methods of deductive analyzing that will prepare candidates for efficient test taking skills.

How It works:

Upon enrollment all students receive confirmation code and welcome email.  All hard copy materials are then mailed using USPS Express Saver 3 day service.  48 hours prior to the scheduled webinar, students will recieve an invitation email with an access code for the computer terminal access and both a telephone or computer headphone code for direct communication with the class and instructor.  You will be prompted to automatically download a one time application that will allow your computer to connect directly with the instructors computer and the rest of the class.  Along with each webinar invitation you will recieve a downloadable and printable powerpoint of the webinar so that you can follow along in class and take notes for further review.  Upon completion of the webinar series, students will then be given instructions to set up their exam at one of over 300 NFPT test sites nationwide.

Disclaimer:

*This webinar series is sponsored by ABFT and not a direct enrollment method of the "NFPT".  Due to ABFT's direct relationship with the NFPT all students will be automatically enrolled in the NFPT-CPT credential and for their exam as well as receiving original NFPT materials.  ABFT is primarily a live workshop and symposium provider for the NFPT but due to the overwhelming demand of students in rural areas where the minimum workshop attendance is sometimes impossible to satisfy, ABFT has created a comprable delivery method to help those students that desire a live, comprehensive learning method in addition to what is currently availble by enrolling in NFPT's multiple methods or in one of our live workshops.  NFPT takes no responsibility for the content and outcome of this webinar series.  Nevertheless, it has been shown that all workshop and webinar attendees have a much more indepth understanding of the NFPT principles and possibly more successfull at understanding the subject matter as required for the NFPT-CPT credential.

We look forward to seeing you on-line
